When I got my wheels, I only found one offset and all three (actually 4) body styles where identical.
E34 5 series, both current and past 7 series and the 8 series. The new 5 (E39) and 3 (E46) have different offsets.

One point that I didn't see mentioned was that the Throwing star covers are different for each side.
