So.. are you proposing that some BMW service departments might be willing to bypass or fudge the tests?

If you have a smooth idle at 75k, you are going to need this sort of thing 'cause it's unlikely to "break" in 25k, with our low-sulfur gas. On the other hand it will almost for sure break before the engine has provided the 250k I would otherwise expect out of it.
