My plan is to install the 4.0 V8 anyway, so it isn't a concern. Because of the problem with the V8's, BMW has brought the cost of the new short block down very low compared to what it used to be a few years ago.

: I hope for your sake that the engine has been replaced. I had bad luck with my 530. Just curious, but working for a dealer, I would have assumed you'd have checked that out before purchase.
