Bleeding Brakes (archive)

Posted by Barthe on May 14, 2000 at 23:34:07:

I have a 1991 model 535i and am preparing to bleed the brake system. I have the brake fluid reservior pressure cap and have bled the brakes before.

I understand that the BMW shops actuate the ABS valves while bleeding the brakes while I have only been able to pump the pedal while bleeding.

Is it possible for a home mechanic to actuate the ABS system while bleeding the brake system.

Any recommendations.
