I was lucky. In addition to the wheel I only needed a new trailing arm. The stealer's estimate for the part + labor was about 600$, so I went to a local salvage yard that specializes in BMWs. Got the arm for 150$ and had it put in by an independent mechanic for another 150$ which also included an alignment check. So my accident including the new wheel set me back by less than 600$. I have to say that BMW sure makes quality cars. During the impact the wheel had hit the muffler (a very minor dent on the side) which is *about* 5 inches from the wheel and all I needed was a new wheel and trailing arm! Anyway, could have been much worse.
