Hi Adnan:

You are a font of knowledge and you are probably correct in blaming the belt.
In my case it is that bearing you mention making a slight noise and my query is how do you get it out. The car is a 1990 520i with a compressor with a clutch outside of the double pulley with spring like gadgets on the end

Regards: Kevin

: Hi,

: Check to see if your drive belt is slipping or glazed. This may be a good warning signal that all three of your belts may need replacement (at least on M30 engines there are three belts).

: If the belt is okay, the next likely trouble spot may be the front bearing of the compressor itself.

: To isolate the belt as the cause, if you hear the noise, put a little soapy water on the belt as it spins. This should quiet it, thereby allowing you to confirm.

: Regards,
: Adnan
