It seems to come from the a/c. This is my first summer with the car, so I have nothing to compare. Anyone have any ideas what this may be? It's not loud.
when turning sharp right and accelerating and also when
driving slowly at 1,500 to 2000 RPM (especially when moving
off gently from a standing start). I thought it was related
to the transmission and/or possibly the power steering
system but I was wrong.
simple fix. He has had several cars recently exhibiting the
same symptoms and he says there is actually a BMW service
bulletin out on it.
against the right hand strut tower under some conditions of
engine torque and thus transmitting the whirring noise from
the compressor to the body work!!! All that needed to be
done was to re-position the hoses an inch further away from
the tower and the noise went away!! These hoses are quite
stiff and this was obviously enough to cause the noise
transmission when the engine twisted a bit on the engine
mounts.
