Heh, I was thinking you actually took the time to mount a 6spd transmission. :-)

your 92 (i would guess 92 MY, prod date late 91 - after September) should have the M50TU engine, which has single VANOS.

Your engine not having the VANOS would probably explain what you are seeing - irregular mix burn that goes away with a hotter engine. Having the VANOS and seeing that would probably mean the engine management unit that controls the system is faulty, in which case you should probably see some kind of a warning on the OBD.

As a quick fix, you should take a look at your plugs - they might be dirty (in older engines that was a sure sign for a rich mix) and would misfire..

I'm not too technical and plus I lack technical terms to describe what I think might solve your problem. Better get on the UUC digest and post your questions there - lots of great techs waiting for such questions :-).

Dragos

: As for VANOS, someone told me a few months ago that I don't. I can't remember my build date off the top of my head, nevertheless. I considered the spark, but I'm not too informed when it comes to the plugs. I think I have an Inspection I coming up, so I'll be sure to bring it up to my tech then. But as for octance, I use 91 all the time lately to see if it made a difference. (I normally alternate 87->89->91->89->87, etc.) It didn't. I'm considering trying different 'brand' of fuel too. I can't find a Chevron station for the life of me around where I drive. Again, thanks for the help.
