Recommendation:
After a lengthy period in heavy city traffic or in slow-moving queue of vehicles, let the engine "breath deeply" by driving for a few kilometres at engine speeds above 3000/min. This will disperse any soot deposits in the combustion chamber.


I don't know if this will fix your problem, but it lots of fun.
