Thanks for the info, but it doesn't sound like it's worth it for the extra gallon or so !!

: I used to ignore the block drain plug, but this time I made the effort to get it out.

: With difficulty using an offset box end wrench you can get the drain plug out. You have to snake your hand up between the exhaust manifold and block and then feel for the drain plug. You cannot see it very well. Once you get the wrench onto the bolt you can swing the wrench along side the block until it hits the manifold. Reposition the wrench onto the bolt by feel and repeat until the plug comes out. Another gallon of coolant comes out (if not more). This is messy and misses the drain pan. Have plenty of rags on hand.

: Thanks for the tip on draining the radiator. Jim

: : I need some help regarding the block drain on my M50. I think I have the correct spot ( 13mm bolt below #6 exhaust manifold), but I can't seem to get a wrench into the area to remove it due to the limited clearance around the manifold. Is there any special trick, or am I in the wrong place?

: : Also, I found a neat trick to help drain the radiator: 1Take a length of plastic tubing around 6" long and slip it over the radiator drain spout. Run other end into a suitable container. Also stick a rag under the valve to catch the leak around the valve.

: : Thanks.
