I have a 1989 525i with 252,000 miles. Thje car is beautiful on the exterior and the leather interior is in very good condition. I risk my life every time I try to accelerate from 0 to 40 mph. I have to accelerate quicker tthan this b/c this speed is dangerous. I have tried putting the gear selector in "3" intead of "D" but it makes only a minimal difference. Changed spark plugs, distributor, rotor, using synthetic motor oil, changed idle control valve, tranny filter and fluid but, haven't adjusted the valves or changes the timing belt. Will changing the timing belt and valves help the acceleration? Or does anyone know whether they even make gears for the E34 6cyl in 1989. Please help!
