Factory radio shot. Fix or Replace? (archive)

89 535i with 146k on her, and the factory radio just went bye-bye. Should I get it fixed (any suggestions?)
or should I replace with a third party brand. I Like Alpine and Blaupunkt, but I guess whatever will fit will have to do.
Wife car, wish it was mine...
