My wife's '83 528e oem BMW unit went south (lost left channel in amplifier circuit). Had it repaired for $70, at a local shop. Works great again. Contact me if you want their address/phone#.

Check Woodfin's (no affiliation) 888 883-4466 ext 234 (Virginia?)(also on the web). They have good used oem units for many models, guaranteed, about $120 +/-

There are probably many other salvage places out the that would have good used. Search archives for sources that have gage/instrument clusters for example.

Also, Zygmunds has?/(had) a special on new units for $250 don't remember specific model/year.
