What exactly is european delivery? (archive)

Pieces of a puzzle are coming together, a carfax that says my car isn't built to US emissions specs, a first aid kit that was floating around in the trunk when I took delivery. (Didn't think much of it until Bert posted about a kit under the passenger seat) Today I pulled out my Service Booklet and it is stamped by the selling dealer as:
Bayerische Motoren Werke-AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT-Volderstrabe 9
8000 Munchen 45 EAHRZEUGUBERGABE.
So in this light, can anyone tell me what this is and if in fact this is a European delivery? If so, what makes it special if anything. Just curious, if anybody has any information that they would like to share or comment.
