Hmmmm . . . Obviously we're not talking about the same tips here. I have the factory chrome tips(from the dealer) on my 94 540 & they are flush with the original black tips. They are NO longer than the factory welded tips. I guess they'd stick out 3 inches if your factory tips stick out 3 inches :-) They look really nice and with a BMW CCA discount they were about $22 each.
