Go for the 5 speed!!!! I have a '94 530i 5speed and love it. Purchase the Jim Conforti chip and you will be thrilled beyond belief. Before the crash.. I had a '99 540 sport auto and sold to eliminate big car payment. Don't miss at all with the aforementioned replacement!!!

: I've owned a '94 530iM since new and am very satified with the performance. Now that I'm about to pass 100k miles this week, I'm also glad I have the 5 speed stick and not the 5 speed automatic (option on 530, standard on 540 in 1994), as I've seen numerous posts citing failures of the automatics at this mileage. Definitely check out the 530iM!
