: I've just bought a '93 Touring wagon and am looking for sources for parts less expensive than the dealer. Specifically, the rails and cross members for the roof rack ($800 at the local dealers), also a compatible CD changer (plugs into side panel in cargo area) ($500 at dealer). Any good used sources, or discount OEM parts suppliers? Thanks for any help. Love the car!

Bavarian Auto is a good place to go for all kind of parts. The phone number is 1-800-535-2002. Also, check Bekkers (spelling?). Once you find a part at a price you like call one or the other and ask them to beat the price, they usually will.
I also have a 525 Touring and was looking for a cd changer to put in the back. If your car did not come with the harness already instaled it is not cheap. Same for the bracket that holds the cd changer. I took out the radio and put in an after market radio/cd player with a changer in the back. WOW, what a big change in the sound! BMW radios are not that good and for the money it would take to get your car up to speed, you can get a great stereo. Keep the old one for re-sale, people really want the original stuff
