Bosch A/C compressor side switch? (archive)

Soon will be seeking replacement compressor for my 89 535i.
It uses typical Behr/Bosch compressor that has a switch or
sensor of the side of the compressor body. This switch is generally not found on
the similar compressors found on E28/E30 models. Does anybody know what kind of switch or sensor this is??
