I believe that your e34 is essentially the same as mine except that it is only 3.0L instead of 3.5L. In the US the early e34's which were sold as 1989's although in europe they were sold in 1988.

The US models in 89 were a 2.5L or a 3.5L in line 6. I am willing to bet that your 3.0 is really a variation of one of these. You can get a bently service manual for e34's. It covers all models but I don't think that it mentiones a 3.0L.

Your car does run on gas or petrol right? I don't know if BMW did a diesel in 88.
