Really have to hear it to give you the straight skinny but one thing to remember with BMW engines and the thermoplastic intake runners is that the intake pulses actually cause a 'rattle' in the intake manifold runners. They did reduce it somewhat in the later engines with a modified intake runner design. Oh, and don't forget VANOS rattle in the later engines!!
