I installed a MOMO Top power steering wheel in my 89 535 for racing(and looks). It is hard to describe how much better a sport wheel is to the stock steering wheel. I won't go back.
There are a few problems with switching wheels.
1. The airbag. I didn't purchase a sport wheel with an airbag and I am unsure of the legal/insurance issues of removing a airbag.
2. MOMO doesn't make a hub to fit the airbag steering spline so I had to have their normal hub adapted to fit.(washers and spacers)
3. Removing the airbag steering wheel. I disconnected to battery 1/2 hour before touching the airbag. Pulling out the wire was(and is) the scariest thing I have ever done in my car(and I have raced at Road Atlanta. Actually there was that time where I lost control of the car on a back road and it skidded sideways into on-coming traffic at 80mph. I have since learned to keep it on the track)
