Sight glass is located near the firewall. Remove the black plastic piece above the hoses and you will see it on the smaller hose(hi pressure side).
As for converting to R134a supposedly from what I've seen on this board and read it is do able with not much conversion work.
Personally I prefer to stay with R12 though. I believe if you look back a couple of weeks ago and look for the name Tim Collins or do a search under his name he converted to R134a. Someone else also replied to him that he converted to R134a and claimed it worked but then said air temperature was a cold 50 degrees. This isn't acceptable to me and I'd say this is cool not cold but for him he claimed it was enough to cool down his car. I know in my E23 50 degrees won't cool it down it only makes it bearable. Anyways you'll have to decide if you want to convert. If you want to read up on it e-mail me personally and I'll send you some url's you can read up on compatability issues.
