Longevity of M50 motor (archive)

I am an owner of an 89 535i with over 260,000 miles on it and still running. We are looking to replace our aging 528e, which has over 250,000 miles, with either another 535i or a 525i (w/ M50 engine).

I know the longevity and bullet-proof characteristics of the M30 engine (also had a 1602 and a 2002 which granted phenominal mileage). How does the M50 compare? Is it as long-lived? Any particular problems with it? Any input would be greatly appreciated, especially from personal experience.

Thanks loads,
Ron
