Coincidentally, beware of being duped here, as i almost was. I thought if i go to a air-con expert, he would know more about the problem and it would be cheaper than a bmw dealer. He diagnosed and told me it was the air-con motor (?). Called his friend and said he had only one available for my model. Gave me a good offer from $600 to $400+ and said offer only good for today. I thought wait first. Went to dealer and told me it was the micro-filter. Fixed problem at less than half the cost. imagine if i had gone for the motor thingy, i would have been duped by the asshole.

: Help! My 1991 E34 aircon has gone crazy! It has those analogue controls of yore... Very little air gets through the vents, despite me hearing the blower run faster and faster as i move from setting 1-4. Using setting no.4 is very weak and barely sufficient not to mention estremely noisy (am i wasting fuel by running it on "4"?) This is not a sudden problem, just gradually set in over the years
: the last time something blew (1994) it cost my dad something to the tune of US$4k so it would be good to know what might be wrong rather than get conned into replacing the whole works. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
: Cheers

: PS: i tried fiddling with those sliding controls which let you choose where u want the air to blow out from but little air comes out no matter which setting i use.
