Hi Adnan,

Before I purchased my E34 525i I had a 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo 5speed. I always do the majority of the work on my own cars and here is my 2 cents.

I LOVED the Supra, I modified it extensively and it had 320 RWHP (on a dyno!). Kept it for 10 years and sold it and bought the E34.

Reason, I wanted something a little more sedate as a regular driver (I get my need for speed out of flying). I always loved the E34 shape and straight 6 engines (had a few Jag's in my time too!). Being as I like tinkering with my cars, the 525i suited me perfectly. The ease of maintenance on the E34 compared to the Supra is like light years apart..the Supra was a plumbers nightmare of vacuum hoses, shimmed valves, awkward hoses, limited work room, finicky suspension. Now, the E34 is a VERY easy car on which to work with lots of room in the engine compartment, hydraulic valves, relatively simple power train components, suspension, running gear, brakes etc...

Essentially, I traded a performance GT car for a fine long-legged touring sedan that performs well and that I know will last as long (or longer) than my Supra with easier regular maintenance and part replacement virtues.
