turner motorsport said the chip will pass ca smog if you currently pass it with the stock chip. BUT my friend has a '95 m3 with a jim c chip, and it DID NOT pass ca smog. put the stock chip back in and it passed with flying colors.

Thanks so much for your candid response. I'm thinking that the best compromise would be the Dinan chip. I appreciate the info!
