I just bought a '90 525i w/ 142K mi. in excellent condition for $9,000. Did not have it inspected and as a result, was punished with a blown head gasket less than a week later. Luckily the guy I bought it from agreed to split the cost of repair. If you are in the L.A. area I know a great mechanic.

I'm thinking of buying a 1990 525, automatic. It has 104K miles, one owner all servicing at authorized BMW dealer. It looks to be in good shape inside and out but seller does not have all service record history. Asking $9K. Is this a good deal? What should I look out for? Help please.
