Everything to do with crank phase - timing and fuel injection at a minimum, and anything to do with crank speed - rev limiter, location on fuel/air/spark map.
It is not uncommon for this part to loosen in its bracket and cause intermittent problems. See photo below:



What exactly does the crankshaft posistion sensor actaully do in relation to either fuelling and or ignition,can it also if found to be faulty have serious effects on engine performance and what is likely to suffer???
