Usually speeds of 50+ will not require a fan to be on, because of the cooling effect of the air hitting the radiator. I guess the combination of the 110° temp and the coolant mixture (or lack of mixture, as it were...) were too much. Well, good luck.

Since it was a hot day (110F), he had the A/C on on max. The traffic must have been bad on Las Vegas Blvd, being a Saturday. He mentioned that the Valet noticed the engine running hot (gauge), and recommended turning the A/C off, which he did. He must have driven about 2 miles on surface street, and about 3 miles on the freeway before pulling over.

The car had a new water pump just 1 year (12K miles) ago. The fan clutch was replaced 9 months ago. Thanks again for your input.
