I have had exactly the same experience. New tyres and good vibrations at a spcific speed. Many wheel balances (and harsh words) later problem reduced. Dealer traced problem to bushes. Replaced and viola! No shudder. One way of checking bush wear is to drive along at about 30 MPH then jump on the brakes, hard. If you hear a "clunk" type noise then that's it.
