I have a 92 525i sport with 350,000 kms on the clock , I have had the same thing since about 150,000....it gets progressively worse till the oil change every 6,000..then it goes back to fairly bad . My advice is forget about it unless the oil light stays on for more than say 5 seconds , then there will be damage being done.
