Understood about the U.K. (I'm an ex-Pat myself!). However, weather extremes in some parts of the world make it almost necessary to use synthetic. Here in Chicago we can get to -30F in the winter and 100+F in the summer. This plus lousy commuter traffic flow makes synthetic almost a must!!!
