LCD Lights Flickering (archive)

I recently had a problem with flickering or pulsating LCD dash lights ('92 525). I read several postings concerning this problem and received suggestions on how to correct it: shining a flashlight at a sensor or adjusting the illumination level of the dashboard lights. I had the problem diagnosed by a reputable mechanic and he advised the alternator was over-charging, vis-a-vis, bad. He replaced it and the problem is gone. I hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.
