TRANS PROGRAM error message (more) (archive)

While installing my CD player the other day I unpluged the battery and when I re attached the battery the dash display showed (TRANS PROGRAM) as an error messsage. When I put the car in gear (automatic) it did not display the gear number and mode on the dash disply. The car accelerates like it is stuck in manual mode.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Is there an easy fix or will the car need to go to the dealer? Again the only thing that I did was to unplug the battery.
