My black 525i, 1994, has etched in rain spots. I've
made a few passes with 3M fine cut polish compound. The car
shines but, at various angles I can still see the spots. Is
there a better product or method?
Is this paint system clear coat over black?
Thanks for any help.
Steve

Steve,

Hi, My 1990 525i had a bad case of rain spots. We tried everything we could find and nothing worked. I checked with the glass place and they said it would cost $100.00 just to do the back glass and it might etch the glass. I tried a razor blade and it worked but it was slow and you had to be real careful or you would etch the glass. Then I tried my cooktop cleaner. Finally, success! This is a cleaner made for Maytag glass cooktops. The name is Cook Top, Cleaning Creme for Smooth Top Ranges. You can get it at a Maytag store. It should work really well on your 1994 since it doesn't have a large built-up. Good Luck!
Nancy
