Is tyre/tire pressure not determined by the tire manufacturer for best wear/contact for a particular tyre/tire? I was surprised by the high recommendations for the car, and lower for the tyre/tire.

535i 5spd (Michelins with about 5000k to go, Dunlops on hold)
