check your engine and tranny mounts as well to make sure they aren't worn with play.

Hi and hope someone can shed light on this problem.
My friend has a '94 530i V8 with Auto Box. When selecting reverse, there is a "thud" when the gear engages. This does not happen in the forward gears but only in reverse. Once warmed up, the "thud" is not so bad. Why is this ?
