Actually, check your.... american driver's side(i think) motor mount. if you can imagine this, your engine wants to spin itself in the engine compartment, and the mounts keep it from doing so. lift the hood, put the emergency brake and regular brake and shift into reverse give the engine a quick pump of gas and have someone watch the engine. if it "jumps" replace the offending motor mount. rich
Tranny is about time to go,have him cough up $3 to $7k...rubuild or new....good luck.
Hi and hope someone can shed light on this problem.
My friend has a '94 530i V8 with Auto Box. When selecting reverse, there is a "thud" when the gear engages. This does not happen in the forward gears but only in reverse. Once warmed up, the "thud" is not so bad. Why is this ?
