Here in the Uk, we had the 518i, the 520i, the 525, 530i, 535i and the 540i. I have driven the 518i, and it does indeed struggle, but what needs to be remembered is that many of these cars do a daily commute, and are far nicer to sit in than most other manufacturers' cars of this age !

I personally have a 520i, and while alcking a bit low-down, revving her a little can produce some reasonable speed.

It should be remembered that we are paying nearly £4 a litre...about $6, for standard gas, and about 25% more for RON98 (the good stuff)

The 518i may be slow, but it cant cruise nicely !

It is, supposedly, to be avoided in the UK, as most owners will drive one as if it were a 6cyl (REDLINE)

my friend has an e34 bmw...., and i don't know what year it is......

and i looked at the engine......, it was looked the same as my e30..... it was an M40....

my question is....., was it really a 4 cylinder 518i?,and when?

i think it's a bit funny....., a big car with pretty small engine....

anyway.... thank's for your answer
