There are a couple of places in Singapore who still carries performance parts for E34s. As Moots was saying, there are numerous options which you can try to mod (slightly) your car. Some of them are..
1. In Singapore, I would think that the Superchips are available (10-15% increase in HP and Torque)
2. Rear exhaust, Remus, Supersprint, Scorpion etc
3. Lowering kits are readily available, Apex, Eibach, Koni
Your 4 mods to the Japanese would be specific to the Hondas, however, you could change your chip to Superchips (S$600), and K&N (not recommended as you will suck in hot air from the fan)
Personnaly, I would change the suspension setup first to get better handling, i.e. lowering kits, sway (anti roll) bars and a +2 or +3 wheel upgrade.

Thanx a whole lot for replying. Glad to know there's someone nearer to home. Appreciate if you could elaborate on my previous thread about the light mods. Still trying to gather as much info b4 attempting.

Hey John,
Most of the common mods listed in this forum are as follows:
1.Jim C Chip (sharking it)
2.Lowered suspension
3.+2/+3 wheel upgrade
4.K&N (although some disagree,me as well)
5.Stiffer anti-roll bars
6.Strut tower brace
7.ICE (in car entertainment)
While a lot can be done to the Japanese made cars in terms of mods, the Bimmer can do without,as it is already a tuned up saloon IMHO.But the fact that your model is the smaller 2 litre straight six compared to our American counterpart with a minimum 2.5 litre and common 3.5 litre models, you will find your car to be underpowered.Nothing beats capacity.I am thinking of doing a 2.5 litre transplant to have that extra oomph to my car.
moots '90 520i(your neighbour from KL)
Hi people, new to yur forum. Recently bot a '89 520i. While the car is more exec type car, me being the car crazy guy needs more to work on. I'm intrested in doing some enhancements to get the best out of this car. Recently test drove a friend's Honda, feels a whole lot different from the normal Honda Civic because of the following mods; (1) Denso Iridium sparks (2) NYK spark cables (3) Induction box
(4) Minds-VTEC superchip
Feel it's cost effective, if I'm to model after this; not too sure if this'll go down well with my car(the sparks/cables are japanese; Is the 520i fitted with a chip-here again there's the question of compatibility.)
Hope to hear from u all soon. John from Spore...
