I just had a new (rebuilt) block on my 1991 535i, and here's what I learnt from the board recently:

- Oil change @ 500 miles
- Do not let your car idle long
- Avoid hi-traffic (stop-n-go) situations
- Avoid high RPMs
- Avoid cruising at constant speed (engine) for a long period of time.
