How do you get off the center link?....more (archive)

I am about to change my whole front suspension, thrust arms, center link, and tie rods (already did control arm). I have been under there and it really looks tough to use a pickle fork on the center link. How have you guys done it? Do you really need a tie rod puller(like in BMPD)? Will it damage my new/used steering box? TIA b '91 525 180k new front suspension soon
