Heel-toe offers significantly greater control of the vehicle, due in part to engine braking (and subsequent higher rpm/torque for power-on exit.) It also smooths chassis balance by combining shifting and braking, allowing an earlier shift and/or later braking. Matching revs is key to this smoothness (I'm practicing...) but once mastered I think will actually nurture the clutch and drivetrain with more precise shifts and fewer lugs and jerks. Theoretically only perhaps...
Hope I'm not in over my head here!
