I commented this procedure with one of the aircraft mechanics at the hangar of my company a couple months ago,
and he told me that even though automobile engines are different in many ways to airplane piston engines, they were
similar in the following:
Carbon deposits not always just "dissolve" when people use chemicals to clean the induction system. Sometimes they
come out in little pieces. Those pieces can come trapped in the valve seats during the running of the engine, causing
nicks and spoiling the tight seal of the valve and its seat. He told me that he did not recommend the procedure if I
wasn't going to blast walnut crust pieces to remove the carbon.
Just an opinion of a professional (not me).

I have 180k almost and I want to clean out the carbon in my engine. There was a nice discussion on the pros and cons of this procedure a little while ago. Now SERIUOSLY can this damage your engine, cat, 02 sensor, or anything else? Let's discuss this as technically as possible and without any flames. Any techs out there willing to submit their opinions? Anyone that has done this procedure please submit. TIA b '91 525 180k
