I agree with Roy, Although the converter don't self immolate they have to have fuel to feed the fire and melt down. If it overheats there is an underlying reason such as leaking fuel injectors bad o2 sensor, bad fuel pressure regulator. Pull a spark plug and see if its unusually rich, otherwise you'll just have to replace the converter again. When the converters melt down they tend to fuse into ball and clumps which get stuck farther down the exhaust sometimes causing a plug. Also when they melt you hear them rattling under the car afterwards when you drive.
After taking a 20 minute drive I noticed a burning smell coming from underneath the car . When I looked under the car I observed light smoke coming from where I believe the Oxygen Sensor is located. I don't understand why, I changed the sensor about 8,000 miles ago. What could be the problem?

I had what *may* have been a similar problem several weeks ago (although on a 540 - not a 535)- turned out to be a self-imolating catalytic converter. Caused a lot of noxious smoke and also apparently damage to the O2 sensor.
