I ran into the same situation with my 1995 525i. I did the same thing as you did. So far no problem and it's been about a month.

When I put Bosch +4's in my '95 525iT (P.S. no noticeable diff in idle quality - YMMV...) I noticed some oil pooling around plugs #3 and 4. SO, yesterday I replaced the valve cover gasket and the plug bore gaskets. The job itself was no problem, about an hour or so. The thing is, when I removed the old gasket, it peeled off the valve cover taking with it partial strips of the paint (anodized? what IS the valve cover covered with??), leaving an anything-but-flat surface. I scraped gently until it was flat, and put it all back together. Seems to be fine, but obviously I can imagine htis might become a problem again. FWIW, the oled gaskets were noticeable less pliable than the new ones.
Anyone had this experience and lived to tell about it?
