Does it sound like valve noise or something else?

What grade of oil are you using? Are ambient temps really low when you hear the ticking? Just wondering whether you have insufficient lubrication at the top end when you first start her up.

I assume that your valves are correctly set and the adjustment was performed on a cold engine?
