Most guys here are going to freak at the suggestion, and I wouldn't consider it for my 1989 535ia unless replacement BMW engines get so expensive I can't afford them. Having said this, I've worked on three V8 conversions in the past (RX-7, Chevy S-10, and Porche 911)...in all three cases the raw performace increase was sensational. The challenge with those swaps was a terrible increase in weight (even with aluminum heads). In a 525, that BMW inline 6 is probably heavier than the LT1...so as long as you don't mind whacking at the tranmission tunnel a bit and fabricating engine/tranny mount....I'd say GO FOR IT!...I think it'd be really cool! Things to keep in mind...your going to have a challenge integrating the BMW computer system...not sure how this would work.

Has anyone performed a LT1 swap into an 89 525i
Please don't kill me for asking such a question, but i'd really like to know...
