Help! No one can help me with this yet and it's driving me crazy (sorry for the pun). When I drive my car, which is an automatic, for about 20 min. of city driving, it gets a sound like the engine is going 120 mph, when the speed has not changed. The dealer said it is not "reving". Someone else said it was only the fan coming on. But the sensation is that it kind of pulls back on me, that it takes more gas (slightly) to get going. Is this normal for a 540i? I really find it annoying--not a really smooth, quiet ride, for sure! Please, please help. Thanks, Sandy

Does your tachometer change or show the high revs and are you just traveling along or accelerating? My 540i never did anything like this, and yes when the engine is cold it takes a higher rpm to change into a higher gear, almost like the trans is in sport mode and locking out the torque converter.
