My right side back-up light is not working. I tried a new bulb, and traded left and right sockets (the socket you can pull out). It still does not work. It's a '93 525iT. Only thing I can think of is that the contacts inside the light assembly are bad? Any other ideas?

I had a similar problem on my '92 525i that was driving me mad. First I thought it was the back-up light switch but it tested OK. Then I found that one of the wires that was routed through the trunk hinge was broken. Since the wire bundle flexs each time the trunk is opened this was probably through normal wear and tear. Regardless, I jumpered around the break and all was fixed.
